advanced 3d problem

I'm running into a consistent crash in the latest version of After Effects whenever a composition requires the Advanced 3D renderer. The app immediately throws an error stating:

"After Effects can't continue: Advanced 3D plug-in generated an unexpected exception."

I am forced to switch back to Classic 3D, but I really need to use the Advanced 3D features. I've already installed Cinema 4D, but the issue persists.

Here are my system and driver specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA T1200 Laptop GPU (4 GB VRAM)

  • Driver Version: Release 595 (Conservative / Production-tested branch)

  • Application: After Effects (Latest CC Version)

  • I have tried many versions including 26&25

Hi Sherif, adding to what ShiveringCactus and Rob suggested, there's an update available for your GPU driver. Kindly install it and see if that fixes the issue: https://adobe.ly/4fAc5aX

Let us know the outcome.

Thanks,

Nishu

I’ve found crashes like this are often caused by driver conflicts, where another part of your system is using the same resources as AE.  In preferences, look for disable video hardware acceleration.  This solved a persistent issue for me a while back.
