Advanced Lightning Orb Glitch in After Effects

Question

I am trying to configure Advanced Lightning on an image and am running into a weird issue. Every couple of seconds a large white orb appears. I have tried changing just about everything but it is still popping up at random. In my Project Settings my Video and Rendering Effects is set to GPU Acceleration, as I saw a few previous posts about that. Has anyone seen this before?

You're likely exceeding 8-bit values. Try changing the bit depth of your project from 8- to 16-bit or even 32-bit, although that will make your project render even more slowly. Increasing the bit depth will allow you to go from having only 256 levels of brightness (2^8) to 65,536 (2^16).
