AE 17.7.0 (B45) "Create > Convert to Editable Text" Option does not work on .Ai Files

Hello Community, 

 

My current build of AE won't allow me to Select  "Create > Convert to Editable Text" when Right Clicking on a layer from a Composoition made from an imported Illustrator File (CC 25.2). 

 

This selection option will work if I export the .ai as a .psd, but then I lose the ability to convert the shapes, etc in the file into Vector Objects inside of AE. 

 

I made sure my .ai file is saved without compression, PDF enabled (otherwise AE does not read the file at all). I also made sure all layers only have one object in them.

 

Weren't we able to convert isolated text.ai Layers in an AE Composition into Ediable Text?

 

Will this feature return in the future? (I hope it does:)

This command only works when you import text laters in PSD documents. The illustrator text layers cannot be converted into editable texts inside AE.
