AE 18.4 Text not showing

I saw a few other forums on the 18.4 AE update not allowing people to paste text, but I'm having the issue of not being able to see text that I type. This has happened once before and I somehow fixed it, but I've gone through all options I can think of and nothing has worked.

I've purged all data, restarted the program, reset character, etc.

Any guidance would be great.

Yes, it was happening to old files as well as new projects. I reset my preferences and that seemed to fix the issue. Thank you.
