AE 2020 / Mac Pro 2019 Crash on launch issues

Anyone else experiencing any craashes after the latest CC2020 AE update. Since doing it, i've had about 9 crashes. These usually follow the system waking up from sleep. As soon as AE launches, it opens, stutters. entire system sticks, non responsive, eventually crahsing and restarting.

Mac Pro 2019, 16-core 192gb RAM, GPU W5700X

I thought it may be just a system bug, however i'd been using the sytem for a few hours after this particular sleep. Doing data backup. replying to emails etc. It was only when i hit launch AE i instantly had the issue. It's incredibly annoying.

My problem resolved after clean windows install, but AE updated to 17.1.2 version in the meantime as well so both might have been solved my problem.

Hi there,

Sorry for your issue with After Effects.

As Rick suggested, I'd recommend using the cleaner tool to uninstall After Effects and installing it again.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

unfortuanetly it's not just AE. After doing more testing over the last few days, after every sleep on launch of a CC app the system crashes. InDesign this moring. And Ae just now.

Snippit of the Panic here. The system becomes suggish, unresponsive eventaully forcing a restart.

Are you on Catalina? No problems at all with OSX 10.14.6

10.15.4 here. Makes no sense not to keep Catalina upto day with the issues

1 32-bit line of code in any portion of any app, plug-in, or extension and you have problems with Catalina. It is in the documentation. Only AE 2020 is supposed to be capable. I can't take the chance because of the documentation and warning I read on the Apple site and the fact that Adobe products comprise only about 60% of my toolbox. To me, it makes no sense to run a system update when a lot of the tools I need to do my job are not yet claiming 100% Catalina compatibility. Apple should not have locked out all 32-bit code. There should have been a back door or module that could have kept compatibility.

I would suggest that you uninstall all adobe apps, delete all preferences, even run the Adobe Cleaner tool and start over with a fresh, clean, install. Then slowly start adding back your 3rd party effects, extensions, and scripts.
