AE 2020 'Unknown Exception' Error (OSX Catalina)

Question

Hi, I keep getting the "  " error on Mac (s/ware all up to date).  I've uninstalled AE, run the cleaner tool, and reinstalled. Still persists. AE2019 works fine though.  Any ideas?

Hi Nick,

Sorry for the issue. I see that you are not able to open After Effects.

Please try the following steps:

Press & hold the Option key. From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Library > Preferences > Adobe > After Effects and rename your After Effects version folder as your After Effects version.old (e.g. if you are using After Effects 2019, your After Effects version is 16.x.x).
Go to Documents > Adobe and rename your After Effects version folder as your After Effects version.old.

Let us know if it brings any change.
