AE 2021 Preview Lagging

Hi,

Has there been a definitive solution to this problem. I see posts dating back to 2016 with no resolve.

While using preview play back my frame rate drops next to nothing with audio cutting in and out. I have cleared cache, reduced the resolution and the preview tab and video window, enabled hardware acclerated decoding and given AE maxium RAM avalible (13GB of 16GB). It pritty imposible to use the program. I'm running a Lenovo ThinkPad T15 i7.  I see posts about using 4K monitors does this really make a diffenence?
