AE 2023 Terrible Lag

This seems to be an extremely common issue and wondering if there's actually ever going to be any improvement? AE 2021 was working perfectly fine and now of course after updating to 23.3 - it's an absolute joke. Spending monthly on CC and these updates just go backwards instead of actually improving.

What else to say except being completely frustrated - all the while - sure Adobe - keep taking my $

Hi all, updating you on my progress so far... nothing has changed with Adobe After Effects on my end. Still terribly slow, specifically when I'm doing text animation. I have a suspicion that it is 3rd party fonts that are making it slow but I have no proof yet. However, I am seeing that if I animate my text with something like Arial, everything is fine. But then, when I change the font to Lexend Deca (a Google font), AE starts lagging like crazy. Anybody else getting this?

I've had frustration with absolutely horrendous lag in AE 2023. I've tried ALL the things, to the point that it feels like gas lighting now when someone says did you turn on/off the disk cache, purge memory, turn on/off hardware acceleration etc etc etc...
I've just noticed something new I hadn't noticed before. I don't know if it is THE culprit I've been chasing but I'm hopeful it might be.
I'm on windows 10 with AE 2023.6, and on my machine when I import Proress 422 HQ files or .mp4 files they freeze the software when I click and edit them in a comp. The test I've been doing is simply right clicking on the layer of Prores 422 HQ file dragged into a comp.
When I do the same right click test on Prores 422 or Prores 4444 files I get no freeze up.

Curious if anyone else experiences this?

Same here. I have updated every driver possible, checked all my settings. This update to AE has cost me SOOO much money in time in the last week. It's ridiculous. What should I do!?? I'm in the middle of a project and all I need to do is simple text animation and I can't even do playback at 1/4 res. And it keeps crashing!

Same thing with me. It's so bad that I can barely work in AE now. Won't refresh the comp window. Never had this problem before 2023 and purging media and disk cache do nothing. Tried restoring default preferences... nothing. Beyond frustrating.
