AE 2025/2026, Win11, RTX5060, create a comp, and either push play/stop, or move the play head, the image goes away in the comp window

Win11 / ASUS Tuf / RTX5060 - In AE 2026 and 2025, create a comp, the footage doesn’t appear in the comp window.  move the play head, no image in the comp window.  push play, it shows fine. then stop, the image goes away in the comp window (black).  Tested using a layer/solid - same behavior.  I’ve applied every suggestion for Video Rendering, all ‘Fast Preview’ options,  also cleared all cache, updated, uninstalled/reinstalled.  BTW: NO problems with video using PrPro 2026.  Thinking of rolling back Nvidia drivers to see if that’s the culprit. Thanks for any pointers.  Video attached showing behavior.

Rolled back the NVIDIA driver, and it fixed the problem:

    Variable

    Result

    AE 25.6.2

    Broken on 32.0.16.1047

    AE 26.2.1

    Broken on 32.0.16.1047

    Intel Disabled

    No effect

    Reinstall AE

    No effect

    Rollback to 32.0.15.9191

    Fixed

add’l info:  here are two useful powershell commands i used, piped to .txt files (open in excel):

    • pnputil /enum-drivers
    • get-wmiobject win32_pnpsignedDriver | select devicename, driverversion, driverdate

also, via device manager, i was fortunate that the january26 driver was available for rollback.
