Question

AE 22 feels like a downgrade?

Ever since i moved to v22 ive noticed a colossal increase in waiting times. whenever i create a text layer it takes like a minute for the text layer to update with the new text. same goes to shape layers. it takes ages to create a new shape, but if a shape is already created then its fast at creating new poitns and editing them. i thought maybe im imagining things but i just downloaded a prev version (18.4.1) and it creates them instantly almost in the same project file. now i just need to move all my plugins and change the licences on them.  what a waste of time

Make sure that your third party plug-ins are "multi-frame ready".

Assuming After Effets version 18.4.1 and version 22.2 are installed on the same computer, there should be no need to change licences.  The plug-ins just need to be up-to-date.

Hi Carl Irl

Sorry to hear about this!

It should be the opposite. After Effects v22 should perform better for previews and renders. If you still have v22 installed, I'm curious to know if following this step is going to help:

- Go to After Effects Preferences > Memory & Performance and deselect "Enable Multi-Frame Rendering"

Thanks,

Rameez

yeah, i have that enabled. honestly you should try using your own products and tell me its not a downgrade. new photoshop keeps crashing everytime i use the smart select object even tho its fine on the old version? whats the point of even these updates with cool features if they break everything else?
