AE 22 unstable and crashing

Opening an AE 2021 project in AE 2022.

Many 3D layers, motion blur and textures.
The project is - everything considered - pretty snappy and responsive in 2021.

For the first few seconds after opening the comp, everything works ok. Scrubbing the timeline etc.

But when pressing Space for preview, the comp becomes unresponsive, sometimes playing the first few frames (even though all of the comp in green-lit), time indicator hangs and finally the comp viewer goes blank.

If I give it some time AE will eventually hang and crash.

This behaviour is the exact same on my iMac (10 cores, 128 gb ram) and my Macbook Pro (8 cores, 64 gb ram)

I have the same problem. First project I tried to open I got prompted to convert to AE22, then after it was done, crashed. Multiple times.

Can't even render with Media Encoder because while rendering AE crashes and I have to start over.

Nice pre alpha test we do here adobe

100% I can't believe that this is the quality we getting in 2022. Premiere also crashes, missing codecs, the works. I need to use 2021 to do my work.

So, this seems to be very specificly tied to the Plexus plugin in use.
Even though the plugin has been updated to support MFR, it seems to be causing the mentioned problems.
Move along 🙂
