AE 24 Preview slow to update text

I've been experiencing painfully slow updates in preview when trying to update text since my system was upgraded to Sonoma (specs below). It's happening across multiple projects, and I've tried clearing caches, adjusting memory, removing graphics, everything I can think of. It's also dragging a bit on Windows 11, but not to the extent it is on Mac. 

 

Does anyone have any thoughts? 

 

iMac 2020

Processor 3.3 GHz 6 core Intel i5

16GB 2667 Mhz DDR4

Sonoma 14.1 OS

    Hi Auntie Dragon,

     

    Welcome to the community and sorry for your issue.

    Does it happen with all the fonts? Try testing it with a system font on a new project. Also, try running After Effects in Safe Mode.

    It's happening with all fonts in existing projects. New projects don't seem to have this issue, at least not with what little text I'm using to test with. I've tried to open AE in safe mode, but it keeps reverting to normal mode.

    Try opening a New project and importing the existing project into it.
