Ae changes resolution when dropped into AME

Trying to figure this one out!

Design a short & simple animation with a video clip in Ae at 3840X4320.

When i drop it into AME (media encoder) to save out as an MP4, it tells me the source material is 2048X2304 and screws up my output.

How/ why is this happening and what can be done to keep the native resolution?/

    You have to read up on what MP4 actually allows and what MPEG levels are. Many MPEG formats are constrained and you simply cannot always render them at arbitrary resolutions. Again, you realyl have to study up.

    It looks like you are out-of-spec for MP4.

    To keep the native resolution, consider exporting to a format/CODEC that allows for 3840x4320.  Animation and Apple ProRes422 should both work fine for that frame size.  Although, the files will take a good amount of drive space.  If you're tight on drive space, give ProRes 422 (LT) a try.  Of course, I'm assuming that you're on Mac.  If on Windows, try Cineform at 4 instead.

    You could also try HEVC (H.265).  I just haven't tried HEVC myself at anything other than the standard 3840x2160.
