Literally the day before posting this, AE was working just fine on my Windows desktop. I updated my Nvidia drivers and installed all the Windows updates that were available. When I open AE, it will freeze during startup when it says "Cleaning Up, AEDynamicLinkServer".

I'm not sure what else to try. A friend of mine had the same issue and had to install versions of AE from back in 2016 in order for it to even open, but he said every three days he needed to install one version earlier to keep it from crashing.

What else would be suggested that I try? Also, if there is more information I can provide that would be helpful in troubleshooting this issue, please let me know.

Thank you ahead of time for the help!

Hi ArthurTLee,

Sorry for your issue with After Effects.

Could you share the complete crash report with us? We can get it translated.

In the meantime, you can try basic troubleshooting.

  1. Try resetting the preferences: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342?page=1
  2. Disable the firewall and antivirus and see if it brings any change.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

NO!  Resetting our user preferences is NOT an acceptable work around, and I won't let Adobe employees suggest it!  You're giving out bad advice for a buggy program.

The solution is to right-click and "run as administrator" -->  also NOT an acceptable solution.  Fix your product, Adobe.

It is the past post. I hope it helps. Would you run it as an adminitrator privilege?

Thank you for the response! I tried this and the only difference now is that the window will open to send a crash report to Adobe. Before it would just crash with no window popping up. So, there's at least some progress! haha
