AE crashes after applying animated number counter

Hi, 

After applying Effect / Expression Controls / Slider Control to a text layer AE crashes. Does anyone have same problem and knows how to fix it?

This happens on macOS Catalina 10.15.7 / AE is up to date

I tried the same on another computer macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 / AE up to date - and AE does not crash - so I was able to save the project but I would rather solve the issue on macOS Catalina
