AE crashes every time a file is imported after changing renderer to Cinema 4D

Hello,
I was working in a project that required at a certain point to changer renderer from 3d to Cinema 4d;
this leaded AE to crash, anytime I opened it. 
Ok, don't mind -Using 4d Render was not that important so I reverted back to 3d.
Since that, any time I try to import any file (.ai, .psd, as footage or as a composition) AE freezes for a minute or so, then it stops completely and just the crash report window remains.

I've updated AE at the last current version, I've tried to reboot the Mac and it still doesn't work.
I'm running on OS 12.4 with a MackBook pro 2021 with M1 and 16Gb RAM.+

That is being quite frustrating as basically the program is simply unusable at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated.
