Question

AE crashes, screen goes black, crazy lag after that :\

It's gotten to the point where I open my project, do 20 seconds of work, the program freezes, screen goes black, screen turns back on again, program crashes, I reopen, everything after that is so laggy it's unusable. Rendering is so slow the music doesn't play, hovering over options highlights them 1 seconds late, and it keeps crashing without saving. Funnily enough, when the program is not in focus, it runs perfectly fine. Furthermore, my NVIDIA Shadowplay stops working after the crash (the menu opens but the overlay doesn't show. I can still click buttons as if they were there though). The only way to fix it is restart my computer. I know this is likely a graphics card issue, but the only thing that seems to cause this issue is after effects. If anyone has had the issue let me know.

Hi Lucas3044051579rz,

Welcome to the community and sorry for your issue.

Could you let us know the version of the Nvidia GPU driver that's installed on your computer? Try installing the latest Studio driver if you're not using it already.

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,

Nishu

Rolling back my driver to an older version from May fixed the issue. Typical Nvidia and Adobe not talking to each other again just like the issue they had in April..

Same issue. After the recent Nvidia driver update my After Effects hangs for minutes and is very unresponsive and laggy.

I am having the same problem with AE and Premiere CC as well.

The odd thing is the problem is still there after a complete clean install of Windows 10.  AFter the install I had a driver from 2022, crash as soon as I moved playhead on 4k timeline.  After that I ran a software to stress test the Graphics card and no issues at all at up to 8K.

Updated to latest Nvidia driver, same crash.

graphics 2060 Super, Ryzen 5500, 64GB ram

All latest Mobo drivers and latest adobe apps

I also guess the issue is related to the graphic card. Have you already updated the driver?
