AE not working properly

Whenever I try to use a key command it takes about ten seconds to go though. For example if i switch from brush to hand tool it will take 10-20 seconds to complete that operation. Very bothersome as i cannot work as fast as i should be when i have to click in every action. it was working fine last night i just paid for the complete sweet on windows computer.

Yes please follow dave suggestion and let us know if restart can help you fix this issue, anyway sometime when you have small RAM size and your RAM get almost full you will start seeing a slow down in the performance of Adobe App so be sure you close all the unnecessary application.
