Question

AE & PP crash when scrubbing timeline or during RAM preview

Hello!

Been frustrated as of yesterday as After Effects and Premier Pro started to crash without any error message (apps just freeze and Windows's End Task display kicks in). Once I scrub the timeline or initiate a RAM preview for a few seconds, the computer will just freeze on both apps.

Media Encoder will also crash after a couple mintutes of exporting, but only the render crashs and not the entire app.

I suspect it might be a video driver/CODEC issue as this only happens when I'm previewing and exporting video, but need help to resolve.

Attemps to fix the issue so far:

- Uninstalled and installed various versions of AE, ME, and PP

- Cleared cache and purged memory

- Increased headroom for disk cache (50GB) and RAM (29GB)

I also agree you mention the cause is related to th graphic card driver. Would you update the driver or change the setting to CPU rendering?

Hi Billy,

Sorry for your issue.

Are you using any third-party plug-ins? Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore and remove all the files and folders (except dummy.txt) if there are any. Restart After Effects or Premiere Pro and see if it brings any change.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu
