AE project file won't open on new version

Yeah, i'm running into this now and adobe is the worst place for help EVER. I want to downgrade after effects, because now all y old projects won't open, but they only offer 2023 versions. I absolutely hate adobe. Can someone help me download previous versions that I know work? 2019 and earlier??

You should get a warning that pops up and tells you that the file you opened will be converted to the new version of AE. You will have to save it again. 

If you do not get this warning, the AEP has been corrupted. 

It does not work the other way. An AE 24 project will not open in AE 23.

Without any info about what version you are trying to open on what system we can't realyl tell you much. There are at least two known issues where a) projects created under Rosetta emulation on Mac won#t open and b) projects won't open if they reference certain fonts. Anything more requires precise information.
