Question

AE ProRes QT rec.709 gamma 2.4 workflow Problem

Currently, I noticed that my ProRes renderings look different.

I use to work in s-RGB and Rec.709 colorspace now whenever I render a QT ProRes442 HQ the output is darker. So it's not possible to interchange the QT with someone for playback.

So whenever I import my ProRes442HQ QT I have to interpret it as s-RGB/Rec.709 again.

Did Adobe changed something over time, did I miss it?

System: Windows10 Pro 64-bit / AE 17.5.1 (Build 47) / NVidia v 460.89 2x GTX 1070

Left AE Workspace and right QTProRes

Hi emse5D0C,

Here is the collected information I found in this forum here.

If you want to watch the ProResQT and you are using the VLC player you should

change the Preferences go to Video and change the output from automatic to Direct3D9 video output

As for the import you have to go through the interpretation. change to same color profile or use the

keep RGB checkbox.

Here is also an interesting discussion about color space in AE:

I hope I can help you out with this.
