AE runs slower on with M1 MBP

Question

I am wondering if anyone else is experience this. I got the M1 13 MBP with 16gb of memory. I've notice that running simple effects like an animated displacement map causes AE to lag. And because of that it effects render time. When I bring the project file to my Late 2012 iMac with 32gb of memory base model, previewing the displacement map runs smooth and render time is a lot faster.

Is there a fix to this?

At this point AE is not even optimized for M1 Macs and runs in "quirks mode" with a ton of unfinished code and emulation. You simply have to accept these limitations and be gald that it even works in your case. Many users can#t even get it to run properly.
