AE slows down extremely?

Has anyone experienced this issue when AE project even though it's not heavy or complex suddenly becomes slower and slower to the point you can't work with it anymore and have to start again a new one?
I've already experienced it in Beta and the latest AE version on 2 different projects.
It started when PSD text layers has been changed to text layers. Might be unrelated but after this not only the preview but the whole AE became sluggish.

    Did you check the cache folder, is it full?? try cleaning it. And also assign a completely separate drive be that internal or external for cache only. I hope it will help you.

      1. What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version) and version After Effects?

      2. Is it happening with a specific font or in a specific project? Can you test on a new project?

      3. Are there any third-party plug-ins installed?

      1. Not related to hardware. Tested both on Mac and Windows.
      2. Specific projects linked to PSD.
      3. Obiviously but the same plug-ins are present in other projects that won't cause issue.
      When I have time I can try to share the project.
