Ae Times Out When Creating New Comp In Active Project

Hello,

When working on an active project in Ae, I import a video file or a photo to add to my project. I drag and drop the video/photo to the new comp icon, and doing so, Ae times out. I'm on a Mac, so all I get is a beach ball.

I'm running Ae version 18.1

macOS Big Sur

Version 11.3

I'm doing normal activity in Ae, and it's beach balling. I copy something from one comp, and Ae will beach balls when I go to a different comp.

Am I the only one seeing this? Ae is getting to point of not being able to use it.
