AE washing out color from import illustrator files

Question

I have changed the RGB in illustrator profile to match the one in AE and it still looks washed out. I can compair with a export png to the ai file

The image on the left is an exported png and the one on the right is the illustrator file.

I figured it out. The images were CMYK. Once I changed the images to RGB it is now fine.

Without any specific info about the source files, your AE project, color management settings, render settings, how you review the files outside AE, system info and all that nobody can tell you much. From unsuitable CM settings to specific issues with effects or output formats this could be anything. We really need much more specific info.
