aerender asks to sign in

I am building out a render farm and in testing, when I run aerender from a command line, I get a pop-up that asks me to sign in.  If I close the window, the render then proceeds.   I was under the impression that aerender did not need an active Creative Cloud account to properly work, and since I am installing on multiple nodes, I cannot be logged in to all of them, nor can I go around to each node and close the window.   Any thoughts on why it is asking to log in?
