Question

AERender slows down and starts maxing cache disk with plenty of free RAM

I'm using 8 instances of AERender on a 12-thread machine and it's maxing out the cache disk activity part way into the render even though there's a bunch of free RAM (~15 GB free).  When this happens the per-frame render times go from ~45 seconds to ~120 seconds.  Then they go back down.  Then back up.  It seems to start at random times during the render but never right at the beginning.  I always get at least 30 - 40 frames or so before the cache disk starts going crazy.  Sometimes I get 100 frames before the problem arises.  I've tried rendering on two other computers and neither exhibits this behavior.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?

Thanks,

Any progress on this front?

We have a similar effect where with 64 GB of Memory. It appears that on certain renders, just by luck, we'll experience high Disk IO writes, and the Disk Cache just balloons. If we start it on a different machine, it'll work fine.
