What, exact, version numbers of After Effects and Premiere pro are you using?

    What OS?

What are the specs of the footage you are using?

Can we see a screenshot of AE's interface?

Keep in mind that AE is the most complicated piece of software Adobe makes and you should expect to spend at least a month on the basics before you "get" it. If you are new to video in general, you should learn Premiere Pro first and then take on the challenge of After Effects.
