Question

After Effect failure to preview and crashes

Hello,

Been running into previews that cache up to a point and then AE crashes despite preview working previously (a day or a couple of hours). Sometimes the preview also freezes up and take 10- 15 minutes before I can call up task manager which shows AE in a suspended state.

I'm on Win 10, 64gb ram, i7-7700K and 200gb disk cache. AE version is 18.4.1

I've attached my log and CRASH files. Anyone have any ideas?

ps. I can't attach the .CRASH files as it isn't supported on the forum. If it is necessary I can't link it but I hope the log is sufficient to tall whats wrong for now.

There's references to missing plug-ins, so this may need to be addressed in some way and then of course there's those notorious zanzibar errors, simply indicating that your cache is corrupt or a preview function, sometimes audio-related fails to work.  Ergo the logical thing to do would be to check your cache, flush everything, manually clean out the folders and then also check this at the system level, e.g. if your storage device driver is working properly and isn't flagged as problematic in device manager or the event viewer. Similarly, since many of thes cache issues still come down to botched hardware acceleration functions tainting the cache and rendering it useless, you will still have to look into your GPU settings and possibly update the driver.

Hello,

Thanks for help!

I've deleted preferences, removed the missing effect and deleted cache
folders and updated my gpu drivers. I've also reinstalled After Effects.
Unfortunately, to no avail. I reinstalled 18.2.1 and it seems to work for
now so I'm going to continue on it

Thanks again!

Kind Regards,
