I am having an issue where after effects freezes while immporting psds with more then one layer. I have tried multiple files and new files with one layeer will import but if i simply create another empty layer it crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled after effects and deleted preferences and updated all drivers, still the problem presists.

Hello Nancy, thank you for responding. I was able to get on with support and they had to re install some system files. Since then I have had no issues. Knock on wood. haha. But just for sake of completeness it was any psd no matter the size or mode as long as it had more then one layer. The test psd I made was 1920x1080 with a solid color layer and one completely empty layer. I was able to import the file before adding the empty layer but then i added it saved it and reimported it and it failed. Also I did flatten the layers then resaved and imported it and it also failed. So if at any point there a layer present in its history then it would fail. But as i said the support specialist reinstalled some system files and it is working. Thanks again! 🙂

How big is the PSD file?

Under Image > Mode,  is it 8 bits/channel and RGB color?
