After Effects 16.1 won't open

(Windows 10)

New update won't open, gets stuck and won't respond. Or, it will show in my task manager that the program is in the background, running on RAM but no activity on CPU. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, and now I'm scrubbing it and going back to an earlier version since I have a project due in 3 days.
