After Effects 2018 15.1.1 audio export defaults to 8kHz

I'm having the exact same problem detailed in this thread from an older version (but I'm using the latest version). No matter what I do the audio output from a video always defaults to 8kHz when I export. The only way to get a video exported with good audio is to change it to 48kHz right before I render. Unfortunately I keep forgetting and then have to go back and re-render.

Is anyone else running into this? Any ideas for a fix?

what if you create your own output module template with the preference you want? does it behave correctly after that?https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/basics-rendering-exporting.html#output_modules_and_output_module_settings

Ah, you know I tried changing and re-saving the default output preset and I it somehow didn't occur to me to try a new preset. That seems like it might have fixed it. Thanks!
