After Effects 2020 fails to render

Hi, I just updated to After Effects V 17.0.0 and now I can't render.

I'm specifically trying to render out a frame for approvals (Cmd + Alt + S)

I've tried changing destination drives, tried restarting, tried different formats.

Keeps failing to render.

OK I found the problem. I had to switch off hardware rendering (must have lost my settings when I did the upgrade)

so rendering is working again.
