After Effects 2021 preview keeps freezing when I try to play it

Every time I open my project and I try to play the preview, the bar goes green but the preview is frozen on the frame my time indicator thing was on when I pressed play. I tried remaking the whole thing in a new project and it was working fine until I added a transition (zoom out with warp and optics compensation), closed my project, and tried to reopen it. 
I tried to delete the adjustment layer with the warp and optics compensation effects on them and tried to restart AE but it's still frozen.

The only other effects my clips have on them are twixtor pro, bcc lens blur obs, and brightness and contrast. I pretty much always have those effects on all my edits and it's always fine until now.

I have a MacBook Air (2019) with 8GB of memory and usually, my AE works fine and runs pretty smoothly on my laptop.
