After Effects 2022 continually crashes

Hello - I have been experiencing crashes while using After Effects continually for months now, several times daily. I'm using AE 2022, and third party plugins Video Copilot's Element 3D and Maxon's Trapcode Suite. My specs and prefs are below.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32,0 GB
Total Physical Memory 31,8 GB
Available Physical Memory 5,30 GB

Total Virtual Memory 108 GB
Available Virtual Memory 12,9 GB

I also constantly get the new low memory warning. I try to use After Effects while no other apps are open. Even renaming layers seems to make the app come to a grinding halt. This has been getting worse over the last year. I'm at my wits end. Please help.

Hi 26462504jxxt,

Sorry for the crash.

I second Mylenium's suggestion. The more info we have, it gets easier to diagnose the issue. Is there any crash report? Is there anything specific that triggers the crash? You can start by resetting the preferences of After Effects. Here's how: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342

About the Low memory warning issue. A fix for this issue is in the beta. You can give it a try or you can try the suggestions in this article if you don't wish to install the beta version.

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

Without any actual crash info we can't really tell you much. Of course it would be easy to just blame it on your third-party plug-ins, but if renaming a layer causes notable lag, that is of course not really the answer. Since you mentioned the issue having existed for months, it also seems going back to 22.5 would not be an option, or would it? Either way, some more info is required.
