After Effects 2022 only opens intermittently

Whether I'm opening it from the Creative Cloud app, directly via the desktop icon or by clicking on a file, After Effects only sometimes opens. Other times either nothing happens or it gets stuck on the load screen and I have to use Task Manager to end it. As far as I know everything's updated and I'm using the latest version and a sufficiently optimized computer. Any ideas?
