after effects 2023 doesnt work

Some reason after effects just stopped working now. like when i import a clip now its just black and wont play the composition at all. and say i do get that working if i make any single adjustment to the clip like split it or add effects or just anything the composition doesnt play and it crashes me

We can get it checked. Does After Effects behave the same if you do not import any media file? Or have you tried working with any other media file? Give it a test, it'll help us to understand if it's the media file that's causing the issue. Also, try running After Effects in Safe Mode and see if that brings any change.
