After Effects 2024 doesn't play back in timeline after connecting bluetooth headset

As description states, working on a Windows computer. I'll connect my Apple Airpods to my machine, AE will work for maybe a few minutes before playback becomes disabled, closing and restart will fix it temporarily but problem will pesist again after the same timeframe.

This was also an issue on I believe AE 2023, I googled the Adobe forums and a solution was to open preferences, change output audio to speaker then back again to desired headset and that would fix the issue. Instead when I try that AE freezes and crashes completely. 

Has anyone had this issue or am I going crazy?
