Fixed an issue for Windows that caused the memory usage to exceed the assigned threshold when rendering projects with 32-bit EXR files. Fixed the Vegas effect generating flickering output when the Random Phase checkbox is enabled while rendering with Multi-Frame Rendering. Fixed an issue with Draft 3D that caused composition tool cursors to appear in non-composition panels. Fixed an issue with Draft 3D that caused RGBA values to not show up in the info panel. How to update After Effects to version 22.2?

Open the Creative Cloud desktop application and click the Updates tab on the top-left. Find After Effects in the list and click Update.

I don't see the update in my Creative Cloud desktop application. What should I do?

Click Help > Check for Updates from the Creative Cloud desktop application to refresh it.

I can't save my After Effects file, if my external display is set as my main monitor. Such a weird bug.

It means that now every single dialog box opens on my laptop and not my main display. Really a pain in the butt.

So weird that a bug like this isn't addressed immediately in a new version. The bug was adressed more than half a year ago.

Thanks for the update but still that performance in 2022?

That multiframe is still like having porshe that the AE is a speed limiter.

I am not saying my 8 core ryzen 3700x is blazing fast but using 20% of the CPU? I have 2x RTX 2080ti not used at all.

Also caching into memory? Ok but if premiere can cache into files whole timeline why Ae can't do that?

More and more getting projects in 4k and doing something in Ae is completely flustrating and nightmarish.

Please can't you push whole performace into 200%

After Effects and Premiere Pro are miles apart when it comes to their architecture and codebase. After Effects loads every frame into the memory before playing it back. Hence, it requires more memory and resources than Premiere Pro. I understand the architecture is maybe different from Pr. But buying every year more and more RAM is not effecient for studios or freelancer. And it is not about RAM, when I get some frames into ram, that is half job but rendering them and using such a small percentage of the hardware, THIS is what flustrate desinger. Adobe should rethink this application gluing together and somehow putting AE on steroids.

After Effects still doesn't export a video via Media Encoder. I've upgraded both and after launching the software, nothing happens. Is there any way to overcome it? Maybe deleting cache?

Predictably, the project takes forever to open and I had to immediately turn off MFR, but I made it 20 minutes into this update before encountering an error that is forcing me back into AE 2021 where I do not get this error even though its the same project file:

As it stands, I'm already spending ~30% of my work hours troublshooting bugs in AE2021! I've been having to reset my audio hardware selection in preferences to fix frozen viewport issues for 3 VERSIONS IN A ROW! Guys, this is ridiculous. It honestly feels like nothing functions properly, like im using cracked software and not paying $600/yr for the last 10 years. The worst part is that I'm not even exaggerating.

I get a similar issue when trying to render a PNG. I use the same workflow I always use, again, in previous versions AE 18.4.1 (2021) it works fine and renders fine.

Seriously ... are Adobe EVER going to fix MFR. We have been reporting it doesn't work since its release and Adobe seems to just be completely ignoring us. I have 3 works stations and it works on NONE of them.

I have reported this issue at nauseum and all I get is SILENCE.

ARE YOU DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT ?????????????????

I sincerely don't mean this personally but does anyone there ACTUALLY read the forum. The problems with MFR not working have been documented quite exctensively in th previous threads. MAybe got and read the plethora of posts saying the SAME thing.

It simply does not work.

If you switch it on, all the renders grind down and crawl along. It has the OPPOSITE effect of what it is supposed to do. You have to switch if OFF to get the render speeds back to normal. I understand you are not personally responsible for MFR but that face you are asking me what the problem demonstrates the either Adobe is ignoring the feedback or not even reading it.

I'm on a iMac pro 10core with 64GB of RAM. After Effects is glitching all over the place when I move the playhead, even when it's fully cached. It evens happens with a fresh install and jast a circle shape layer with 2 position keys on it! Here's an example with a tiny png file with 2 keys on it! What is going on? I can't work like this!!!

So I found a fix. When I turn off "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" the glitching and lagging stops.. Well, nice job at "accelerating" after effects.

is very slow on opening, and 3D camera tracker is very very slow.

Adobe premiere pro instead is very fast!

I didn't have one previously installed on this Mac.
I have Monterey 12.1

AF 22.2.0 opening time (to Welcome page): 24s
PR 22.2.0 opening time (to Welcome page): 8s

PS 23.1.1 opening time (to Welcome page): 3.4s

Multi Frame Rendering still does not work for me. Adobe tech tried to diagnose but ended up blaming it on the project itself. If I turn MFR OFF, I'm able to preview and render the composition. Turn MFR ON and rendering stops, AE locks up and have to force quit AE. Running a 2020 mac m1 mini with 16gb ram and 1 TB SSD. Adobe tech did not want to address the simple question of MFR ON and OFF. Has to be something to that issue.

Which format are you rendering to? Are you using Media Encoder for rendering or the After Effects Render Queue?
What is your macOS version?
