Question

After Effects 25.1.0 and Media Encoder 25.1 SUPER SLOW to render?!?!?

I've just started using AFX 25.1.0 and Media Encoder 25.1 on my MacBook Pro 2020 M1 with 16GB (running Sonoma 14.6.1). Renders are now inexplicably slow. A render that used to take 2mins with the previous version of AFX and ME is now taking 40mins!!! There is nothing complicated in the project. I can see that the render grinds to a halt when proccessing .MP4 video or .png image sequneces. The videos and image sequences are not even big (1920 x 1080).

I know my macbook is a little old and 16GB not a massive amount of ram (these days) but... the same machine had no problem with these sequences in previous versions of AFX and ME.

It is driving me crazy. Is anyone else having similar issues? Any ideas for a fix? Would be very grateful if anyone can help.

kind regards Paul

I'm on an older imac 2019 with 24 gigs of ram and am finding ALL the after effects output slow.

It wouldn't even connect with media encoder, though I'm now testing if media encoder is able to pull the sequence out of after effects...which seems to at least provide a bit of a workaround to keep going in AE while rendering...

What's the version of After Effects and Media Encoder you're using? Did pulling the Comp in Media Encoder help? What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?

Let us know.

Thanks,
Nishu

Sorry to hear about the issue, pablomagoo.

For testing, do you mind installing the previous version of After Effects and Media Encoder and see if you can export the same project in less time than it takes in 25.1? You don't need to remove the 25.1 version of the app. You can use them simultaneously.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Nishu

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
