After Effects 25.2 lag when using menu

Win 11 64Gb Ram, Nvidia Studio Driver 572.83. The update to AE went ok, but I am getting incredible strained lag when I use the general top drop down menus - especially if you navigate back and forward. Even in AE Safe mode and Software only. 
Looking at Task Manager it briefly flickers the word 'efficiency' when it freezes but not sure if thats anything. Anyone else notice this. May have to go back to an older build of AE.

    Thanks! I'll give the Beta version a try then.


    installed 25.3 (build71) official update and on initial use it appears the issue is gone.
    will update here if it comes back after a few days use.

    I'm having the same issue and have tried sooooo many things to try and put it right. I've also had Adobe tech guys working remotely on my computer, but have still yet to fix the issue. Tried going back quite a few versions too, and it's still happening. It's infuriating.

    Try the Beta - it seems fine with me although I dont want to use it on production work , the official 25.2 and 25.2.2 are too broken to use. I am back to 25.1(build68) and its behaving. I await a new official release to try again. Highly irritating.

    Here is a grab. This does the same in AE safe mode. No other apps have the issue when brought fwd.

    Thanks for sharing the screen recording. Please try this: go to the Window menu and uncheck the "Character" panel. If that doesn't help, try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled if you've not tried already.
