After Effects 25.4 is throwing an error message about Plexus

I have been on After Effects 25.2 for a while and finally made the jump so I can get that sweet layer offset control that got added. However, an unexpected result is that I am now getting an error message when starting up the program.

I've not had Plexus as far as I can remember, maybe at some point long in the past but I definitely have not used it in years and years, I don't own it. I tried installing a demo of Plexus both via Rowbyte's site and AE Scripts, but both installations resulted in the same thing, error persists.

When looking at my Library Application Support folder, there is no Plug-ins folder inside my Adobe Common folder.

Any thoughts on how I can solve this? It doesn't seem to be impacting the program at all, but every time I launch it this shows up.

I am not having this issue on my laptop at home, it's unique to this machine. I keep both machines very evently aligned as far as plugins goes, so if I had at some point installed Plexus here I would have installed it at home, but I just don't have a memory of ever doing that.

Hey @BrianLevin , are you by any chance looking in your user Library folder? The MediaCore folder is in your system library folder.

Open a new Finder window, and run the menu command Go > Go to Folder (Cmd+Shift+G) and paste this path:

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/

I suspect you'll find the Rowbyte folder and Plexus there.

Thanks,

Oh wow, I'm an idiot in that regard! I was indeed looking in my user library folder. So that is more puzzling because yes, Plexus is indeed in there but still throwing that error message. Deleted it from that folder and all is good now, thank you!

Nah, just a simple oversight. Both paths exist and are nearly identical. But glad that did the trick!

The path in the error message is correct:

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/

If it was your user folder, the path would be:

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/

or

Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/

Looks like that old version of Plexus causes an issue with recent versions of Ae. Plexus has been updated three times this year, so it's very possible (hopefully) that Rowbyte fixed the issue you ran into just now.
