After effects

Question

Im new with after effects, sooo i have no idea what happend or what i did. I searched the problem up and found no one with the same problem as me. My whole after affects is black, not just the video im editing but the whole screen. I have no idea what i clicked and no idea what im supposed to do.

Make sure you opened After Effects and not the After Effects Render Engine. The icons look the same but you can't do anything but render a comp with the render engine.

If you did open After Effects then try opening it again while holding down Shift + Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd to reset your preferences or just open After Effects/Preferences/General and click Browse to Preferences and rename them and restart AE.
