After Effects/AME - why a black screen when uploaded to Vimeo/YouTube?

Hello

I have uploaded several short Ae projects to Vimeo and Youtube. On Vimeo there is a split-second black screen at the beginning of the video, and then the rest of it plays uninterrupted. On YouTube the screen does not briefly go black but there is a noticeable tiny gap in the play and then the video plays to the end correctly. I have followed Dave Werner/Okay Samurai's instructions in his Character Animator tutorial. When I first contacted Vimeo for an explanation I was told that this was a "normal" buffering. When I challenged this view I was  asked to clear cache and cookies plus various other alterations but nothing has changed. Vimeo then told me they would speak to Apple about this as I am working on a MacBook Pro. If anyone could shed some light on this irregularity I would be very grateful.

Thanks

    Hi geoffreya,

Try rendering the file to your computer first. If it works fine in a video player, then you know where the problem is.

    Hope this helps.

Impossible to know without actual info on render settings, data rates and otehr stuff relevant to the encoding plus of course info on internet connection speed, what browser(s) is/ are used, their settings for hardware acceleration support and so on.
