After Effects and 3D Rendering

When I go to "composition settings" and choose "3D Rendering" and then "Cinema 4D" and click "OK", nothing happens. I don't get an error message, but nothing happens, so when I go back into "Composition Settings" it's back to "Basic." I have done this 100x (because that was productive!) Any thoughts? I'm following along with a video tutorial, and it all seems so straightforward, but.... THANK YOU!

Without any system information and exact version info for AE we can't really tell you much. I vaguely remember this being an issue in the initial 22 release, so if you haven't already, at least go to your CC app and check for updates. Everything else will require more specific info.
