After Effects Black Screen and no Audio on Preview

I was helping my boyfriend thru video call to easily edit a video, he has the CS6 version, and he had no Video or Audio playing, normally. 

The Audio would play by clicking "0" but that's about it, I saw on another forum that it may be that the eye icon on the Include section on Preview window might not be selected but I came to find out that in CS6 there isn't even that option in it, so where can I find this option or is it something else on the CS6 version?? (caps lock is not on btw).
