Question

After Effects causing major system failure in latest versions (PC)

Summary of problems:

Computer is freezing and going to a black screen during After Effects usage. After the black screen it will comeback unfazed, or come back with visual graphic errors. Even my taskbar icons will go missing. I am running Windows 10 with the following components.

It also will sometimes come back with a disconnect between my monitor where it will not be connected after going to the black screen (it will cycle through the HDMI / DP options but does not work). Disconnecting the cable and putting it back in does not fix the issue... Only thing that fixes it is a hard restart where it will be magically start working fine again.

This issue ONLY happens when using After Effects and in no other circumstances. This issue has also just started in the last month, and never has happened beforehand. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall After Effects and it does not help. I have also discovered that the CUDA GPU accelerated export processs goes extremely slower now than ever before (exports that took 5 minutes now take ~40). While it may seem like a GPU related issue, I have diagnosed and tested my GPU in multiple stress tests that are outside of After Effects and the performance was solid. Turning off CUDA rendering results in render times that are good and around what I usually get.

If there is anyone that has any idea what I might be able to do with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Have you checked to see if there is a graphic driver update? Is your operating system up  to date?

Hello, thank you for the reply. My graphic drivers are up to date and so is my operating system.
