After effects cc 2018 plug-ins
By downloading this update, Would my plug-ins from After effects cc 2017 stay and work the same?

This release of After Effects is a whole new version. It can be installed alongside the current one (if you twirl down the Advanced Options in the update dialog).
This means that you will need to install plugins and scripts into this version specifically. Scripts can be copied over from your older version to your newer version without issue (in every case that I know of).
Some plugins will require updated versions (Red Giant, for example, has already launched their updates for compatibility). It is usually recommended to download the latest installer and run it when you install new versions of AE. You can try to copy them across from the old version to the new one, but it's safer to just get the latest and install it fresh.
