After Effects CC2017 Crashes with Elements 3D

So I am running after effects CC 2017 and I have an AE template that uses Elements 3D. I can load the template and make edits UNTIL I add the Models and Materials folders to my video copilot folder in documents. As soon as I do that AE crashes every time and as soon as it reopens it crashes again. As soon as I remove the Models and Materials folders for that template it all works fine again. any ideas?

    Make sure Element and AE are up to date and the versions match. If that is OK and you system meets the minimum system requirements contact Video CoPilot support.

    I'm running AE 14.1.0.57 and Element 3d V2.2

    The AE template I am using was made with cs5.5 and cs6 in 2014. Could there be an issue with my system running a lot newer?
