Question

After Effects content-aware fill creates the layer and then crashes when I try to save

I'm just simply removing logos with the content-aware fill. It works, but then crashes when I save. Here's what happens every single time without fail:

Generate fill layer > it works > press save > nothing happens > press save again >  A window opens saying "After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <random number> <RenderThreadExecutor> <1> Creating executor with 16 threads."

It then lets me save as a new file before it crashes, and then I have to reopen it to continue working. Every. Single. Time.

How do I stop this from happening?

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Are you able to share a project with assets that reproduces this. I tried it on my end, and was able to drop footage in, mask out a logo, generate, save a project, attempt to generate a second time, no issues.

Yes version 24.0, Windows 10. The progress bar is completely finished and I can see the fill before I try generating again.

Is this AE version 24.0? What operating system are you running?

Has the progress bar for Content Aware Fill finished when you press Generate again?

The crash reporter never opens when this happens. I'm on the latest version and have tried clearing cache but no luck. Another thing I've noticed is when I press generate after having already generated in the session, nothing will happen, and if I press it again it'll crash.

When AE crashes, is there a "Crash Reporter" dialog that comes up that you can fill in what you were doing as well as enter your email address? If so, please fill that in and submit the dialog and then we can look up the crash and see what is causing it.
